In a recent blog post I briefly mentioned that I had just spent a weekend in the beautiful Baltic city of Riga. I embraced the snow and managed to get a few photographs even though I thought I was going to get frostbite taking these!
I just love to travel and visit new places, try new food, meet different people and experience a different culture. If it was possible I would spend my whole life travelling (wouldn’t we all though?) but for now short weekends away to Europe will suffice. Riga is somewhere I have always wanted to visit and it’s so easy and cheap to get there from London now!
I’m really interested in visiting places that aren’t ‘well known’ for tourists or the expected cities to be visit (although I think Riga is starting to become a lot more popular!)
From Riga you can easily travel by bus to other countries such as Lithuania or Estonia, so I think I’ll have to come back and merge a few trips and see what the city looks like without all of the snow! Riga is truly beautiful with old vibrant buildings and an bustling old town – where we spent most of our time keeping warm in the bars with a glögg.
Last week I purchased a travel journal titled ‘Wanderlust’ which I plan to document my trips more from now on as I plan on taking advantage of Easyjet, Ryanair and Air B&B deals and see more of Europe.
It looks like I brought the chilly weather back to London with me, sorry!
