We escaped to the Costa Del Sol for a few hours…
It was a typical cold and rainy August evening but I soon forgot that miserable London once I stepped into All Bar One Victoria. The bar is centrally located on Victoria Street (opposite Boots and House of Fraser) just over five minutes from Victoria or Westminster station.
The stylish city bar is bright and airy with a buzzing atmosphere. The perfect place is an after work wind down. We began the night with a Pina Colada each to transport us away. For their cocktail list view the menu here, come thirsty!
We decided to got for the sharing plates which are priced at 3 for £16 or 5 for £26. All Bar One recommend 3 per person or 5 between two people sharing.
Once the tapas dishes arrived I really did feel like I had escaped London for a while. It was a difficult choice (I wanted to order everything) but there were no regrets.
With our bellies rumbling we delved in straight away starting with the Truffled Goat’s Cheese with honey and pecans (£6.50). This was amazing, the honey and pecans added a fantastic sweetness which means the dish is perfect as a dessert too. I’m a huge goat’s cheese fan so this dish was a must-have for me The only negative point I would make is that it wasn’t served with enough bread. But I am sure this is something extra that you could easily ask for! On that note the bread was perfect, so fluffy and fresh.
The Slow-Cooked Pork (£7.50) was incredible. The new menu is inspired by dishes from around the globe (so this didn’t really fit our Mediterranean theme) but it was delicious and so worth ordering. The creamed potato with apple and vanilla ketchup was perfect. I highly recommend ordering this if you go for the sharing dishes.
Next I went for a Spanish favourite, Patatas Bravas (£5.25), which just made me want to jump onto the next flight to Barcelona. Karl agreed that we had made a very good decision ordering the Patatas Bravas which comes served with romesco sauce made from red peppers, almonds and pine nuts.
Next it was time for dessert. Although I was completely stuffed you can always manage dessert right?
As always I went for the chocolate brownie and I know I seem to say this a lot but the Colombian Chocolate Brownie (£5) is BEST BROWNIE IN LONDON.
It was so soft, so chocolately and so tasty. Just look at that sauce! I struggled but I would not be defeated, this brownie is worth it.
All Bar One is the perfect place for a couple of drinks, snacks or a 2-3 course meal. I’m particularly tempted their Tapas Tuesday offer: a bottle of wine and 4 sharing plates for just £20. From what we reviewed we were feeling comfortably full after the 5 plates so this would definitely be enough.
Also after 5pm you can also get selected cocktails for £4.95. The perfect after work stop off!
The downside of the evening? Leaving and realising it was cold Monday night in London and I had work the next day. For a couple of hours I had convinced myself I was away. Thank you All Bar One for having us!
