Black & Blue, a meat lovers paradise.
We visited the Notting Hill Gate branch of Black and Blue. I work just a little further down in the same street so I love trying out the local restaurants and finding new places to dine after work.
Black & Blue is so suave with green leather booths and marble tables but with such a relaxing atmosphere. If you like you can have a seat by the window which faces straight onto the street – perfect for people watching!
We began with a bottle of white wine to share (mainly for me as Karl isn’t a huge fan of wine, fortunately ;))
To start Karl went for the Satay chicken skewers and I chose the Asparagus spears with shaved parmesan, rocket and poached hen’s egg (£7.50). A fresh and healthy option which I thought would be a perfect light option in preparation for my monster of a steak. I was wrong, it was extremely filling but so tasty.
Now for the real star of the show, the T-BONE (400g) which is sirloin and fillet together (£31). The steak at Black & Blue is prime Scottish beef which has been hung the traditional way and aged for up to 28 days and it was absolutely beautiful and so tender.
I had mine medium and it was served with with fries, house
salad and Béarnaise, herb and garlic butter or
peppercorn sauce but we were treated to all three. The garlic butter sauce was dreamy and the chips were cooked to perfection so crispy on the outside and deliciously fluffy on the inside.
Surprisingly I managed to eat most of the steak on my own with just a little help from Karl.
The bowl of house salad which came with our steaks was a main meal in itself! Deliciously tossed with grated cheese and walnuts which complimented the T-Bone wonderfully.
We definitely over indulged but I could not leave without trying the desserts!
Karl ordered the New York Cheesecake while this chocoholic went for the Chocolate Fondant which is probably the best dessert I have had in London so far so do make sure you save room!
For perfectly tender steaks at affordable prices and friendly and helpful waiting staff visit Black & Blue.
Black & Blue also have branches in Waterloo, Borough Market, South Bank, Wigmore Street and Mortimer Street.
