16 reasons why living in London is better than anywhere else in the world

Firstly I'd like to apologise for being MIA!

For the last five years I've updated my blog at least once a week, but it's been such a hectic few weeks that I haven't had a spare five minutes to do anything.

That's because I've spent the past few weeks working, packing to move from London to Kent, unpacking, commuting 4-5 hours a day (again) then packing to go away to Germany, then back home to unpack. (The word pack doesn't look real anymore...)

This weekend I'll finally be able to take a breath and relax a little as the piles of boxes, which still need unpacking, stare back at me.

So I'm temporarily living in Kent for a little while after living in the big smoke for a year. I haven't escaped London yet though as I'm still there every day for work and thank god because I've got big love for that city.

A few months ago I wrote this piece for Metro.co.uk on why I loved living in London. And I still mean all of it. I love love love London, probably a little too much. Sure Kent is pretty awesome too and it's probably a lot better for me. I mean I've been home 10 days and already my skin has improved and I've lost weight (Ubereats, I blame you.). But to me, London is the best city in the world (not that I have explored every city ha!) so here's why London is the best place to live...

1. There’s always something good to eat nearby

London is a foodie’s dream.

You can literally get any cuisine and any dish you want in London.

Want ice cream surrounded candy floss? No problem.

2. Animals ride the tube with you - seriously, look at this tweet

3. People are friendly

We may frequently get pedestrian rage and sit in silence on the tube, but us Londoners are pretty friendly really once you get to know one and another.

4. But it’s the perfect place if you are socially awkward

Because you don’t have to worry about speaking to anyone.

5. The Night Tube

A life saver and worth the long wait.

6. Strange things originated here

Like cockney rhyming slang.

7. Pubs

There’s a pub on almost every corner so you’ll never go thirsty. Or sober.

8. There are so many quirky bars and cafes

You can play mini golf while you drink, pet cats while you have cake and you can smash your mates at monopoly in a gaming cafe.

The possibilities are endless.

9. There are cafes dedicated to your favourite foods

Like cereal matcha, baked beans – anything you want, there’s probably a cafe just for it.

10. That walk along the Southbank and over the Thames

It gives you a fuzzy feeling that makes you feel proud to call London your home.

(The one thing I miss the most is wasting hours just staring out of my window at that beautiful skyline)

11. There is always something to do

London is always so full of life – there’s so much going on and always somewhere new to visit.

12. Being upset when there’s a 10 minute wait for a tube

But remembering that it’s nothing compared to when you lived out of the city and you had to wait an hour.

13. Bottomless brunch

Drinking copious glasses of prosecco before lunch is an actual thing in London.

14. The Underground is great

Well, most of it time. Especially now that it has wi-fi.

And there’s the fact you can get anywhere within about 40 minutes. Just think of these two pros next time you’re hunched over in the corner, under a sweaty armpit, on the tube.

15. There’s just so much to Instagram

(I'm really missing this haha!)

16. In London you should always expect the unexpected

Like John Legend playing piano in St Pancras.
