Bluebird Chelsea Christmas Courtyard

The other week Jo and I braved the decidedly chilly December air and headed south west for elegant Sloane Square.

We were accompanying Roxii, she’d promised us cocktails, to Bluebird Chelsea’s official opening of their Christmas Courtyard. It’s famed for being one of the best festive hot spots in the capital to the point that even my husband knows of it. We arrived to find a illuminated winter woodland festooned with fairy lights , twinkling baubles and an array of candlelit tables under cosy burners. Not to mention benches covered with white fluffy cashmere blankets and a mulled wine cabin within walking distance. We were immediately handed complimentary cocktails to kick things off, and according to Bluebird’s menu we were enjoying Winter Pimms and delicious Hot Espresso Martinis which had just enough vodka in it to give it a lovely kick.

The courtyard itself soon starting filling up with two legged, and four legged guests, who had gathered to enjoy the party and sample the mini mince pies, grilled chicken sticks and other delights that were making the rounds. We soon befriended an adorable, excitable Pug who had arrived with his ever so glamorous owners and were standing chatting across from our cosy nook. Roxii has dined at Bluebird before, she was very impressed, but this was a new experience for Jo and myself. All in all I found Bluebird to be very on trend, with hints of apres ski lodge, snowy alpine glades and cozy, Scandinavian chic in the outdoor decor.

I would love to sample the A La Carte menu of the main restaurant however the Bluebird courtyard and cafe does have its own casual menu where you can order winter warmers, fresh juices, soft drinks and virgin cocktails. You’ll also be treated to a range of delicious sounding snacks including squid starters, hotdog sandwiches and creamy, creme brûlée for pudding all while enjoying the refined, sophisticated ambience of one of London’s finest, and best dressed, neighbourhoods.
