The Bund, Shanghai

#NoFilter needed for this view.

I don't think I'll ever get over Shanghai's stunning futuristic skyline. These photos were taken on The Bund overlooking the neon light explosion over at Shanghai's financial district of Pudong.

Although it may not be to everyone's taste, with its bright lights and modern skyscrapers (a lot of people called the Oriental Pearl Building ugly- pink on the left - but I don't agree), I'm still in awe just looking at these photos.

I have been so eager to see this view after looking at photos online. I was so excited when I managed to catch a quick glimpse as we exited Yu Garden metro station on our way to our hotel.

Despite thick fog covering some of the buildings, so that you couldn't even see where they finished, when we first arrive it still looked incredibly impressive. On our last night we managed to take this wonderful photos (you can still see some of the fog). I love how the colours shimmer across the water, I could have sat and stared at this view all day.

Take a look at this link to see how Shanghai has changed since 1987, it's pretty amazing!

Originally we just planned to visit Beijing during our 7 days in China, but after seeing Shanghai on BBC Two programme, Rick Stein's Taste of Shanghai, and then a quick #Shanghai search on Instagram,  I knew I had to see this with my own eyes.

We were in Shanghai 7-9 June where the weather was humid with some light rain during the day. At night it cooled down a lot but it was still warm enough to go out without a jacket, which made a nice change to London.

Writing this post has made me I wish I was back in Shanghai enjoying a mojito at Bar Rouge on The Bund...

I'll be writing a Shanghai travel guide shortly listing to best places to eat, drink and see!
