La Cabina Review

'Tapas from Seville to Shoreditch’

I love finding new quirky hideouts in London and La Cabina is one of my new favourites.

La Cabina is hard to spot at first but once you know, its easy. Just look out for the yellow door with the telephone. You'll need to enter a code into the phone to enter this hidden gem. We walked down the stairs to this cosy and quirky hideout, I felt like I'd just arrived at the mates house by looking at the homely decor and friendly welcome we received.

La Cabina opened late last year and has introduced London's latest happy hour (definitely just what London needed!). Their happy hour begins at 11pm where you can get 2 for 1 cocktails from their brand new menu of specially selected cocktails. Unlike many other London bars the cocktails here are huge, much larger than I expected but definitely what I had hoped for. My cocktail contained saffron with a blowtorched marshmallow on top!

We went during happy hour and got these two large cocktails for just £4 each! We loved them so much we ordered another round and were tempted by a third round, but we were sensible adults and realised we had to get up for work in the morning so it was probably best to pass as difficult as that was. However as we visited on St Patrick's Day they did treat us to a shot of Baileys each!

We ordered a variety of dishes to share between us, so many that we could hardly fit them on our long table! This included La Cabina's Slow-cooked Pork Belly with wedges and apple sauce. The pork just melts in your mouth, heavenly. The pork belly is slow cooked for 15 hours with the finest cracking. (Major heart eyes emoji)

We also sampled the Smoked salmon with creme fraiche and soda bread and Mini roasted chorizo in red wine, which was probably my favourite of the bunch. I think I may have eaten most of this bowl myself that we were supposed to be sharing, sorry.

Everyone at La Cabina recommended the Scotch eggs with haggis and La Cabina mustard. We were wary at first but gave in and decided to give them a try and we were so glad we did.

They were absolutely right. The best scotch eggs you will probably ever have. WOW. Do not visit without ordering a portion!

La Cabina is open until 5am and serves food until this time too. It's great finding somewhere that's open so late with decent priced food and cocktails. There's no need to rush to bars prior to 7pm to fill the table with about eight cocktails each (yes this is exactly what me and my friends do before happy hour ends!). It's also a great place to know about that will be open when everywhere else has closed, especially if you miss the last train or can't be bothered to get on that dreaded night bus.

You can view the menu here (it also mentions the limited after hours menu).

La Cabina oozes laid-back style, it's just the place you would like to bring your mates for a chilled out night which could turn into a 5am crawl back home. I know where I'll be heading if I ever miss the last train home...
